Current 2010 Interns

Interns are 3rd year University of Zambia students who spend 2 weeks working closely with ZCP staff and pursuing research and conservation of wild dogs and lions in the South Luangwa region.

Bwalya Chibwe (left) and Phelire Phiri (right) are currently at the University of Zambia in Lusaka pursuing their bachelor’s degree in Ecology. They are currently being trained in wildlife conservation, radio-telemetry and tracking, individual carnivore and wild dog identification methods, GPS technology and general research techniques.

Research Assistants

Research assistants are volunteers that work closely with the ZCP team to gain hands-on experience in field research and conservation.

Summer 2010 - Henry Mwape, a very promising young student, was born and raised in Mfuwe, South Luangwa and is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Ecology at University of Zambia in Lusaka.  This summer, he joined ZCP’s carnivore monitoring field teams to monitor lion and wild dog populations and to perform vegetation surveys in South Luangwa National Park and the surrounding Game Management Area.
